Fishing Holidays at El Figueral
El Figueral offers exceptional fishing on the lower River Ebro, renowned for its legendary catfish and carp. Enjoy private bank fishing from our olive farm or explore the river aboard one of our fully equipped boats.
Fishing
The river on the Flix to Benifallet to Xerta stretch of the River Ebro is clear and fast flowing with varying depth and plenty of large, hard-fighting fish. Our stretch has clear water with good flow, deep holes, shallow gravel runs and a stunning gorge. Our stretch regularly produces catfish over 100lb, with fish up to 180lb and carp to 40lb. Other much rarer species include Crucian Carp, Rudd, Chub, Zander, Barbel, and even a goldfish.
We offer both bank and boat fishing with advice on methods and location. Although most methods work on the day, it’s your personal ambition, how and what you want to catch, the surroundings and how the local authorities will let you fish that determine the experience and enjoyment of fishing this amazing river.
We include access to the river for fishing when staying with us, but anglers must have a valid fishing licence. We need to see a copy of the licence before fishing at El-Figueral. No worries if you do not have, we can arrange.
Bank Fishing
It’s difficult to find good, easily accessible bank fishing on the Lower Ebro. Here at El-Figueral, we have over 300m of private riverbank fishing that can currently cater for up to 6-9 anglers comfortably in a safe environment on a very productive stretch of the river. The swims are approached via steps built into the steep banks and can offer shade and shelter from the sun during the Spanish summer.
Both the Pump and the Rock swims sit on large eddies, which provide the ideal shelter and feeding areas for the fish. The Pump swim has around 36ft at one end, climbing to 12-17ft at the other. While the Rock Swim has 20-30 ft of water directly in front of you.
Boat Fishing
We hire boats on a weekly and daily Basis. Hiring a boat allows you to see the river and wildlife from a different perspective and, of course, lets you explore the river and find swims not accessible from the bank.
The boats are constructed from aluminium, perfect for river fishing, with space for 2 to 3 people to fish from. They are fitted with a 15 hp four-stroke Yamaha engine. They come with an anchor, ropes, documentation, and a full tank of fuel (see attached conditions with quotation).
Riverside Caravan
Our Riverside caravans are fully equipped with everything for your stay, sleeping 3 (max 4) anglers in comfort. Because this is a remote, environmentally sensitive area, there are no external ablutions; however, our caravans support closed wastewater and cassette chemical toilet systems, maintained by staff for your comfort. We offer 2-night, 3-night, 7-night, and extended bespoke packages.
Campervan Pitches
Our 3 pitches are located close to the river for anglers and nature lovers. They have an electric hookup and access to filtered water (not for drinking). Campervans should have closed-system onboard ablutions. Entrance to the Property restricts the size, campervans should not exceed Length: 5.24m – 6m, Height: 2.25m – 2.82m (fixed high-roofs), and Width: 1.9m – 2.5m (including mirrors).
Angling Services
If you prefer to travel light, we can provide the hire of quality rods and reels for both catfish and carp. The package includes chairs, pods, landing nets, unhooking mats, gloves, and scales per party. We have a limited supply of terminal tackle, as this is a very personal choice, so we encourage anglers to bring their own. We can provide boat hire, fishing licenses and bait on request.
