Restaurants: There are a lot of very good restaurants locally and we are sure that you will enjoy trying then out, but to get you started we can recommend the following:
Restaurant the Xiringuito (it’s the name for a beach bar!)
Javier and Angel will always look after guests of El Figueral. We often pop in for the menu of the day during the week this is amazing value and quality and will give you the opportunity to try local food you might not have thought of. Thursday is Cava day, where they will offer you a glass or two of cava on the house. If you prefer a La carte they have an excellent menu, not to mention a good selection of local wines.
They open from Tuesday to Sunday from 13.00-16.00 hours. Fridays, Saturdays, they also open from 20.30 to 23 hours. Monday are closed
Rosa Mari - The Grill Restaurant
Rosa Mari is a small village restaurant run by Rosa Mari, it has a charcoal grill, the meat and fish are always local and fresh and Rosa Mari is excellent, again they know us well.
“The Restaurant offers a pleasant atmosphere and the opportunity to enjoy the best home cooking, which together with attentive service and originality of our dishes prepared with the finest local products, will delight the most demanding palates and surprise the most curious. It is in short a kitchen full of flavors and sensations which we recommend among other grilled meats cooked to please the sight of customers”
They are open from 8: 30 am to 5 pm and from 18 to 23 hours. Closed on Mondays.
Restaurant Hotel Pepo
Cuisines: Mediterranean Spanish
A restaurant we regularly frequent for both the lunch time “menu of the day” and evening “a La carte” menu. Very typical Catalan food to a very high standard and both the a la carte and menu of the day have a large choice.
The décor and layout of the restaurant is well presented and lends itself to a relaxed meal. It must be said that the menu of the day is excellent value at €12.50.
The Hotel is located at the far end of the village, when you see the Swimming pool turn Right and immediately left and you’re at Pepo’s.
They open from Tuesday to Saturday from 13.00-16.00 hours. Fridays, Saturdays, they also open from 20.30 to 23 hours. Monday and Sunday are closed
One of our favourite restaurants located off the beaten track and surrounded by Olives trees. Must be tried, least said the better the surprise.
You must reserve a table, they speak English, Dutch, Spanish and I guess a few other languages.
How to get there: head to the C-12 turn left and take the Rosquera turning on your right, the TV-3022, follow this road for 8.5km. On your left, you will see a sign post with Carpe Diem on it. Turn right and drive down a small road, eventually you come to Carpe Diem.
Opening Hours: Evenings; Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Noon; Sunday
Restaurant Mas d’en Curto
The ‘finca’ and wonderful surroundings use to be a typical farming house. The owner’s family have lived there for generations of the restaurant’s owner who lives at the property, has transformed this place into a restaurant without losing its rustic charm. The restaurant’s cuisine is very creative, using organic foods with amazing bio wines to match.
Where we are
We are located immediately after the mile 6 of the TV.3222 Road between El Perelló Rasquera. At this point you will see a sign post that indicates a paved road which for three and a half km winds through woods and cultivation land, eventually you will arrive at the gates of the restaurant. The parking site is surrounded by almonds and olive trees.

Villa Retiro (one Michelin star)
If what you want is to have the most enjoyable experience, try this restaurant. It occupies the former stables of a property that is now home to a hotel and restaurant. Features include a 100-year-old fig trees by the entrance, a well, and a rustic yet elegant dining room. The wealth of local ingredients from the Mediterranean coast and the delicate presentation of the dishes are difficult to surpass. They have fixed menus and a la carte service. Their wine selection is extensive and with very good choices of Spanish and foreign brands. If you want a detour, mental and culinary, of the routine of the coastal restaurants this is the choice stop or even as a destination if visiting the Tarragona/Castellon area. It is also in the edge of the Terra Alta wine region including the Batea wineries and the staff can direct the visitor to the Wine Cathedral in nearby Pinell de Brai. Parking is free at the edge of extensive/well-groomed gardens. This is a place where you get what you paid for.
